Statement of Content Type

Smutlore is a written-fiction platform. Smutlore does not currently host photographic, filmed, or video depictions of actual sexually explicit conduct by real performers through its public author tools. The stories on Smutlore are intended to be fictional text involving adult characters.

No Visual Performer Content

Because Smutlore’s current catalogue consists of written fiction, Smutlore does not represent that every written fictional character corresponds to an actual performer. To the extent any material on Smutlore falls outside that model or is later determined to require records under 18 U.S.C. § 2257, 28 C.F.R. Part 75, or related law, Smutlore will maintain required records or remove the material.

Author Age and Identity Records

Before granting third-party author publishing access or making any author payout, Smutlore requires identity and age verification. These records support adult-content compliance, author accountability, fraud prevention, payment/KYC obligations, and legal review. Authors must be at least 18 and legally able to create and publish adult-oriented written fiction.

Provenance Records For The Licensed Catalogue

The current catalogue is licensed from its original authors rather than submitted by account holders, and Smutlore keeps a provenance record for it: who granted permission, how to reach them, when it was granted, what was granted, and where the agreement is held.

That record is a publication gate rather than a filing habit. The tooling that loads works into the catalogue refuses to load anything the record does not cover, so a published work can always be traced back to the permission it rests on. This is what makes a rights complaint answerable; a catalogue that cannot show why it holds a work cannot respond to one.

Records are produced to rights-holders, partners, and authorities where required or lawfully requested.

Counsel Notes

Confirm whether written fictional erotica triggers 2257 obligations under current U.S. law and enforcement posture; whether the page should be styled as a “2257 Exemption Statement,” “2257 Compliance Statement,” or broader “Adult Records Statement”; retention periods and inspection wording; whether translated/imported operator-owned content needs separate source/author records; and how author identity verification interacts with privacy deletion rights.
